This blog will be dedicated to my current crazy project.
About 10 years ago I decided that I wanted to do a completely hand sewn norse style apron. I figured if I was going to do all that work then I wanted to at least dye the fabric. Then I decided that if I was going to do all that work I should look at weaving the fabric. Well - if I am going to go through all THAT trouble maybe I should spin the threads. So I phoned up a weaver and spinner friend of mine and told her my line of thought. After she finished laughing at me she asked what she could help me with - I then asked her the all important question . . . "Is it hard to learn to spin??"
So - for the past 10 years I have been learning to spin, learning to dye with natural dyes, collecting fleeces, aquiring a warp-weighted loom, and a lot of reading.
I am now ready to actually begin learning to use my loom and make my project.
SO - I will be posting my trials and errors and successes. Some pictoral, some commentary.
This is completley a public journal - friend away if you are interested in this crazy concept.
